Australia will open its border to all international visitors later this month, so long as they're double-vaccinated.

The bar on international arrivals will lift on February 21. Limits have been in place since February 2020.

Currently, only Australian citizens, permanent residents, their family members and some vaccinated visa holders can travel to Australia.

Visitors from New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea and Japan have been exempt from the restrictions for several months already.

The Defence Force will be deployed to help some aged care homes dealing with extreme staff shortages due to the spread of COVID.

The ADF will provide four clinical response teams that can be sent to an aged care home at short notice to help with staffing, medical care and infection control.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has previously resisted calls to have the Defence Force play a greater role, despite pleas from some in the sector for more assistance.

Mr Morrison says the Defence Force clinical teams will only be used in acute situations.
