After 24 hours in transit, the transition from Mexico to Ukraine wasn't that difficult. Except for the Ukrainian currency. That's a mouthful to pronounce!

The public bus from Boryspil Airport to the center of Kyiv is convenient and inexpensive. While the early morning arrival made for a quiet arrival in Ukraine's capital, perhaps the tranquility was needed for an easy entrance to a new country.

Dropped off at Pivdennyi Train Station, Kyiv's morning commute became the first impression of Ukraine. Stimulated by coffee and observing old Russian relics of trains, the remaining walk to the hostel was highlighted by a brief stop at the AV Fomin Botanical Gardens in the city center.

Finally, the big question of the day was answered: what is Ukraine's currency and how to say it properly. Well, at least Matt found out what it is. Developing a tongue for Ukrainian is still a work in process.
