Lichen one of the largest church in the world in Poland Lichen, The Basilica of Our Lady of Lichen: Golghotha an artificial rocky mountain that is 25 meters high. Father Eugeniusz Makulski began its construction in 1976, the required soil was brought by the locals who were digging foundations for their houses. On August 16th, 1987 the Lichen Golgotha was consecrated.
The Basilica is the largest church in Poland and one of the largest churches in the world. It is dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, and is one of the most popular pilgrimage sites in Poland. Pope John Paul II visited here in 1999.

Basilica of our lady of Lichen is one of the largest churches in the world, with a ground area of 10090 square meters and a height of 141.2 metres. This magnificent church is situated in the Polish town of Konin. The church building began in 1994, and it took ten years to complete. 33 Steps lead towards the church which represents Jesus Christ’s early life.
