If you are wondering what are the top places to see in Slovakia, this video might give you a first impression of the country's vibe.
Our trip started at Čičmany, a unique and beautiful cultural heritage in Northern Slovakia. Čičmany is famous for it's folk architecture: picturesque wooden houses with exteriors ornamented in geometrical pattern.
As a next stop we visited Orava Castle (Oravský hrad), which is considered to be one of the most beautiful castles in Slovakia. The castle is situated on a high rock above Orava river, and offers an excellent view of the whole countryside.
Špania Dolina is definitely a hidden gem of Central Slovakia. It is a historic mining village surrounded by mountains that was once famous for it's rich copper and silver deposits.
The next stop on our trip, Banská Bystrica, belonged to the richest Slovak mining towns and was one of the mining centers of Central Europe as well. Encircled by the mountain chains of the Low Tatras, the Veľká Fatra and the Kremnica Mountains, Banská Bystrica and it's surrounding offers wide range of activities for all age groups from hiking, cycling to cave visits (we highly recommend Harmanecká jaskyňa - unfortunately filming was not allowed inside).
Last, but not least, we also visited one of the most beautiful places of Slovakia, the High Tatras (Vysoké Tatry). We completed a round trip from Štrbské pleso up to waterfall Skok (vodopád Skok), which is a safe hike for families with kids, too. As our accommodation was situated at Lopušná dolina, we checked out the beauties of this valley as well.
It's pretty amazing to see in what beautiful country we live in. :) And do you know what's also incredible? During this summer I could tick off a point from my bucketlist: I jumped out of a plane at height of 3000 meters. Skydiving is a mind-blowing experience, I definitely recommend it, don't hesitate to try it out, you won't regret ;)
