VILNIUS CATHEDRAL BELLS AT 17H

A special place in the heart of Vilnius and in the heart of locals. Completed in 1783, this bell tower has endured through wars and fires. Though at one point almost completely destroyed, it was rebuilt and now used to ring the time for all locals that live nearby, an inviting call to Cathedral services.

I didn't expect this tour to be such a strong enriching experience. I didn't even expect there would be access to the bells and to all the compartments. The student ticket is 3Euros. Highly recommend for everyone living here to come up at least once!

All bells (except bell Joachim) ring at 5pm. Joachim as it turns out is the largest bell and very special, that rings only on special occasions. I'll keep my ears attentive on days of celebration, perhaps Christmas day (?).

The special announcement - about my upcoming Erasmus placement. I look forward to exploring Finland (Suomi - the land of swamps) in the next months and I invite you to join on my weekend adventures.
