Visiting a Country That Doesn’t Really Exist, But Still Flies the Soviet Flag!!

I finally visited Moldova — often called Europe’s poorest country — and honestly… it completely surprised me.

In this vlog, I explore Chișinău, the capital of Moldova, starting with the local markets to see what everyday life is really like here. From fresh produce and street food to Soviet-era buildings and beautiful Orthodox churches, Chișinău has way more character than I expected.

I also made a questionable decision… I stayed in one of the worst-rated hotels in Chișinău. You’ll have to watch to see how that turned out.

But the real adventure begins when I cross the border into Transnistria (PMR) — the self-declared breakaway region that still feels frozen in the Soviet Union. In Tiraspol, I saw massive Lenin statues, brutalist Soviet architecture, and streets that look like they haven’t changed since the USSR. It’s one of the most surreal places I’ve visited in Eastern Europe.

And the food? Surprisingly amazing.

This trip completely changed how I see Moldova. It’s affordable, misunderstood, full of history, and honestly one of the most interesting places I’ve traveled to in Europe.
