A new generation of senior citizens is emerging in CEE countries with higher disposable income than previous cohorts of the elderly and a requirement for higher quality senior living facilities, Martin Zsarnóczky, project leader and researcher at Matra Resorts told Real Asset Media’s Richard Betts.

It has been necessary to create facilities that combine senior living, healthcare and tourism with accessible living and nursing home services. Consequently new products are emerging, such as Matra’s new resort scheme not far from Hungarian capital Budapest.

“Ageing is one of the hottest topics in Europe at the moment and providing quality products for this kind of demand can create brand new asset classes,” said Zsarnóczky.

Interest has been shown in the project from around the region but particularly from Austria and Germany.

Matra is also working on a new facility for people suffering from dementia. Zsarnóczky explained that there is huge demand for this newly emerging asset class.
