In this video we will look at the filming of the blockbuster XXX starring Vin Diesel [The section on Vin Diesel starts at around 10minutes] which was filmed in Prague in 2002. The film used a number of different locations in Prague – including the Municipal House whose history and function we will look at more closely.

In addition, we will see how in one action sequence from the film XXX, they used different locations in Prague, yet when you look at the closely at the sequence logically, we see that in reality it defies the laws of gravity and space and time.

But, before that, we will look at two of the most important landmarks in Prague: The Municipal House and the Powder tower, one of the most photographed places in Prague that managed to avoid being demolished despite having no real function for over 600 years, except today where it is a great vantage point for tourists to get great views of Prague. We also talk about the Municipal House, a wonderful and beautiful example of Art Noveau architecture with its restaurants, cafes and a Concert hall. It was the location for two major historic events in the history of the Czechs: their independence from the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918 and the start of negotiations with the civic forum that eventually led to the return of democracy in 1989 following the Velvet Revolution.

The video concludes with shots from the observation tower of the Powder tower or gate.
