Dark Tourism In Poland - Majdanek Death Camp

The Majdanek death camp is located on the outskirts of Lublin, the 9th biggest city in Poland. It was originally built as a forced labour camp rather than an extermination camp. However, the site was used to murder people on an industrial scale during Operation Reinhard, the German plan to murder all of Poland's Jews.

The site had seven gas chambers and was one of the largest of the Nazi concentration camps. Due to the rapid advance of the Soviet Red Army, the camp was captured when it was still largely intact. The camp was the first of its kind to be opened as a museum, in 1944, before the end of World War Two.

In this video, I explore the whole of the camp, starting at the monument where the main entrance was located and making my way through the registration barracks, the living barracks, the gas chambers and the crematoriums.
