I travelled to Chișinău, Moldova, determined to explore whether this is truly the most depressing city in Europe. The initial impression suggests the myth might be true: the concrete brutalism of the Soviet-era skyline is overwhelming, and the architecture can make the city feel undeniably grim.
But I believe beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and as we take a deeper look into Chișinău, we uncover its oddly pleasant and often overlooked sides.
The central event of this journey occurs when I buy a Rolex watch from a local flea market. I make the spontaneous decision to gift this watch to a homeless person I meet, concluding the vlog with a reflection on Europe’s Poorest Capital City.
