The Salute Hotel in the centre of Kyiv Ukraine; is what happens when your designers and planners live under a strict communist union. This wonderfully kitsch hotel is Socialist Modernism at its finest. Despite eventually ending up half the size the architects had originally desired, it still manages to leave a mark on the Kyiv Skyline. If you are approaching from the sacred Monastery to the South of the Salute Hotel or the trendy beach clubs to the east of it - you won't fail to notice it. As I like to move around Ukraine and Kyiv as much as possible, as it enables me to understand the city and the country.
