The 2020 edition of the Volta ao Algarve kicked off in Portimão where the riders faced a 196km course to Lagos - where a bunch sprint was on the cards. With only 2 categorised climbs on course, a cat 3 and 4 respectively, this was always going to be a day for the fast men. With superstars Elia Viviani, John Degenkolb, and Andre Greipel on the start line, the stage was kept under control as teams did their best to keep their sprinters in position to contest the win.
