With no change to the GC since stage 2, and a fast TT to settle the overall tomorrow - today was the last chance for any of the pure climbers to wrestle the leaders jersey onto their own shoulders in their bid to win the 2020 Volta ao Algarve. 5 categorised climbs stood between Albufeira and Malhão - the most brutal of which being the 5th. The Alto do Malhão summit is only 3km long but with large portions of the climb averaging well over 10% only the climbers and toughest puncheurs were able to contest the finale.
