Yesterday marked 27 years since the release of "The Battle Rages On", the last ever studio album that featured Ritchie Blackmore and the whole legendary Mark2 line up of Deep Purple. Although it's being criticized to this day, and being regarded as dull, repetitive and unimaginative, the album is filled with many tensions, heavy riffs and all around dark and gritty atmosphere. For the hardcore fans of the band, this album is the closest thing to their 70's albums, when the original Mark2 was recording Fireball and Machine Head.
