Welcome to Kutná Hora, a small town just 1 hour train ride east of Prague. Once rivaled Prague to be a capital of Czech Republic due to silver mining. The town boasts 2 cathedrals and a famous Sedlec Abbey and Ossuary. Kutná Hora historical Town Center with the Church of St Barbara and the Cathedral of Our Lady at Sedlec is part of UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Ossuary in Kutná Hora draws in more than 200,000 tourists per year. Home to some really tasty beer selections and winery as well.

During Europe's Plague (mid 14th Century), Hussite Wars (early 15th Century) and Thirty Year Wars (early 17th Century) created 40,000-70,000 deaths in this town. Sedlec tombs and burial grounds were over flooded so the monks had to dig up the old and replace it with new. Used the old skeleton to "decorate" in their spare time after prayers, book reading and making beer.

Unfortunately, I never had the chance to explore old town (city center) because of 2 & 1/2 hours of train delay. Will have to make another trip, someday. This town is definitely worth a day-trip, I highly recommend a night or two for a leisure stroll around the old town and finding some interesting old knick-knack souvenirs, cafes and some good ol' home-style Czech cooking.

Do take notes about how to transfer at the Kutná Hora hlavní nádraží (Main train station) on the video. When I visited the town it was 25 Korunas (Crowns), about $1.25 or 1 Euro, it's a fun little ride. To get to Sedlec Oussuary get off the first stop at Kutná Hora-Sedlec. Or stroll and walk for 15 minutes on a sunny warm day!!! If you are planning to go to the Town Center (Old Town) get off the second stop Kutná Hora město. Follow the tourists if you're confused. Go under the platform to the other side to get the tickets for the local train. *There is a chance booth clerk may not be able to speak English!* so whip out your cell phone and Google translate or just follow tourists by walking to to Sedlec.

The train station has a place where you can leave your backpack in a 24 hours locker for a small fee. From the site, it mentions that it is wheelchair friendly too. There is a vending machine for snacks and drinks....have your Koruna (Crowns) coins ready!

I wish I could tell you how long it takes from Sedlec to Old Town but the map distance looks little too far for walking....better off taking the local train. I believe there is one every 30 minutes schedule! The train has 3 total stops so if you are staying more than 1 day, it might be worth getting multi-day train pass.

Keep the Adventure and Curiosity Alive! Thank you for watching!
