On our fourth day in Romania we take a trip down the Blue Danube. Central Europe's great river is very placid these days, but that wasn't always the case as where the Carpathians lie in its path, it was once a surging, dangerous caldron of water. A dam put paid to that and now the area is beautiful, safe and with some fascinating stuff to see. Afterwards, we had a long drive through Wallachia and then over the mountains to Bran where Dracula once lived in his creepy castle... or so the legends say...
