Transnistria, officially known as the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic (PMR), is a breakaway region located in Eastern Europe. It is situated between the Dniester River and the Ukrainian border, and it declared its independence from Moldova in 1990. Transnistria is not internationally recognized as an independent state.
